TOTAL TAKATA RECALL Is the Airbag Apocalypse Coming?

Takata Airbag Apocalypse

Tons of vehicles have been recalled due to faulty Takata airbags. It seems that every week there are more and more vehicles added to the list. Are we reaching a point where the government will order every single Takata airbag recalled?

According to The Detroit News, that’s a very real possibility. So far they’re aware of 10 people who have died due to a defective Takata airbag. One of those drivers was even in a Ford Ranger pickup (Ford has recalled Rangers and the Ford GT for Takata airbags). But, that number could be even higher.

What really surprises is me is why they haven’t all been recalled yet. While recalls are costly, the number of vehicles affected is extremely high. It seems that it would make sense just to bring them all back and perform the necessary repairs.

If a full recall of all Takata inflators were to take place, it is estimated that it would take 4 years to find and replace them in every single vehicle affected. In the meantime, it could mean that there would be more deaths.

If your car is affected, be sure to get it checked out. You can search for active recalls on your vehicle on the government’s website here.
