TOTAL RECALL Ford Issues Safety Recall for 538 Trucks
Here we go again. Ford issued a safety recall for 538 service replacement steering gears installed on 2008-2010 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty diesel vehicles in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
“The replacement steering gear mounting flange does not rest flush against the vehicle frame, which may result in steering gear bolt fatigue. Over time and with high mileage, the replacement steering gear bolts may break, increasing the risk of a crash,” according to Ford.
Fortunately, Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this condition at this time. Vehicles affected include certain 2008-2010 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.4-liter diesel engine.
Dealers will replace the bolts and install spacers between the steering gear and the vehicle frame at no cost to customers.
Stay tuned for more details.
