Ford Falcon Ranchero: Tire Smokin’ Tuesday

By -

In the 1960s, the Ranchero was an unusual ‘alternative’ vehicle. In fact, even its burnouts were odd.

Ford introduced the Falcon Ranchero for buyers who wanted a smaller, more efficient and less expensive option to the big Ford trucks. While “pickup cars” are often joked about in modern times, back in the 1960s this compact car-turned-pickup was a popular model for folks looking for extra versatility.

This week’s “Tire Smokin’ Tuesday” video features a 1963 Ford Falcon Ranchero doing a massive burnout, although with only one tire.

This Ford Ranchero sports a 289-cubic-inch V8 motor, which wasn’t actually offered back then. This means that at some point the owner swapped the old motor for this V8. It also sounds a little healthier than a stock unit, so chances are the V8 is also modified for extra power and character.

This video by dillonsboy begins quite slowly, with music playing in the background as the driver of the 1963 Ford Falcon Ranchero readies. About 20 seconds in smoke beings pouring into the air, and within 10 seconds this little Falcon pickup has created a badass smoke show. Despite it only spinning one rear tire, there sure is a ton of smoke.
