Watch the Marines Test the 1953 Ford F-100
This week’s Throwback video features a promotional video for the 1953 Ford F-100. To show off just how tough the 1953 F-100 was, Ford sent the new pickup to the Quantio Marine Base in Virginia for some rigorous testing.
First up in the Marine tests, the new automatic transmission makes the F100 quicker through the road course while the revised suspension telemetry improves handing. The Marines next put the F100 to work, showing off the advanced visibility of the curved windshield, allowing the driver to stop and avoid being hit by a tank. Finally, the narrator points out that the ’53 F-100 have both six cylinder and eight cylinder engine options – making Ford the best choice back in the 1950s.
