THROWBACK THURSDAY 1979 Ford F-150 Carries the Competition
Back in the 1970s and 1980s, truck ads were packed full of zany stunts that allowed the automaker to show off just how much work their vehicles could do and this week’s Throwback Thursday video features a 1979 Ford F-150 ad where the bestselling half ton pickup carries the competition – literally.
Like most other truck ads, this 1979 Ford F-150 ad shows their truck driving around the competition as the narrator talks about all of the things that the F-150 does better than the competition. We hear about how the F-150 will outperform the opposition from Dodge and General Motors and how the Ford is bigger and better than the Japanese trucks. Finally, the commercial talks about how the F-150 is the best bargain of the bunch, capping the spot off by carrying the cargo beds of every competing truck in the bed of a single Ford.
