This 1967 Ford Bronco Roadster Is a Rare Colombian Export
This 1967 Ford Bronco Roadster is one of just 698 produced, and it’s perhaps the only Colombian export to make it back to the U.S.
The first-gen Ford Bronco has become a highly coveted collectible in recent years, though like all vehicles, some are rarer and more valuable than others. FoMoCo sold the original Bronco is a few different body styles, including the U13 Roadster, which is one of the rarest of the bunch. This 1967 Ford Bronco Roadster up for grabs at Mecum’s upcoming Kissimmee auction is one of just 698 produced that model year, as well as roughly 5,000 built in total over three model years, but it’s also a very unique Colombian export, to boot.
This 1967 Ford Bronco Roadster was one of just a few that was exported to South America in 1966, and during its time there, the rugged off-roader received a few interesting updates. Those include a set of custom rear barn doors that were fabricated in Colombia, as well as a custom top. While many Broncos were used up and lost to time, this one managed to survive all these years and eventually made its way back to the U.S. in 2016.
Back on domestic soil, the Bronco Roadster was treated to a full restoration that returned it to its original condition, save for its early mods. According to the seller, this is the only Colombian Bronco that has been brought back to the U.S. and restored, and it’s obviously quite the conversation piece. At first glance, one might just think that the Springtime Yellow beauty is just another superbly refinished first-gen Bronco, but aficionados will quickly notice the unique top and barn doors out back.
Other than those modifications, this ’67 Bronco is mostly original, down to its 170 cubic-inch inline six-cylinder powerplant, three-speed column mounted manual gearbox, Kelsey Hays wheels, and bench seat, which was recovered using the original SMS material that was present from the factory. The cool ride also comes with loads of documentation, including importation documents, a Marti report, and the original owner’s manual.
The Bronco has been treated to a 2.5-inch suspension lift and a set of non-original 30×9.5×15-inch BFGoodrich mud terrain radials, but that doesn’t detract from its appeal in our humble opinion. Rather, this very cool, very rare, and very unique old Bronco stands out from what is a truly crowded field these days, and should generate its fair share of attention at auction next month.
