Is Sung Kang’s Next Big Project a Ford Maverick?

By -

It doesn’t take long for SEMA build rumors to get started anymore. Anyone with a keyboard and just a small bit of social media buzz can create one in a matter of seconds that will spread like fire in a gasoline tank. This one may have some truth to it and if it does will turn out great. However, is Sung Kang building a Ford Maverick?

Sung’s big project from 2015 was the “Fugu Z” A 1972 Datsun 240Z with a Rocket Bunny widebody kit and a naturally aspirated Nissan RB26DE 2.6-liter DOHC inline-6. It was quite possibly the biggest build from SEMA and won the coveted Gran Turismo award for best of the show. Of course, it doesn’t help rumors when he tweets things like this:

You can kind of see where a rumor will start to take off. For now, a source close to Sung says it’s all just some talk but there is interest to make it happen. If it does happen you can believe it will be another big build in 2016 for SEMA and, just like with the Fugu Z, will capture headlines across all spectrums of automotive.
