Stock 2018 F-150 on 22s: Truckin’ Fast Wednesday

By -

EcoBoost power and the 10-speed transmission put this SuperCrew F-150 into the 14s with big wheels and small gears.

This week’s “Truckin’ Fast Wednesday” video comes to us from the YouTube channel of Dylan Huckeba, who owns the 2018 Ford F-150 in the video. Huckeba explains that he stopped into his local drag strip to watch, but when he saw how light the crowd was, he decided to make a few runs down the quarter mile with his brand new, bone stock 2018 F-150.

Details on the Truck

The 2018 Ford F-150 SuperCrew shown in the video above is powered by the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, mated to the 10-speed automatic transmission. Based on the ride height, this truck is a two-wheel-drive model with a set of 22-inch wheels wrapped in 32-inch-tall tires. Out back is a set of 3.15 gears, so while this is the best possible engine and transmission combination for a go-fast F-150, it has the small gear seat, the heaviest body configuration and big, heavy wheels.

Fortunately, with 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, the big F-150 still gets down the track in impression fashion, running well into the 14-second range.

EcoBoost in Action

In the video above, we watch as the 2018 Ford F-150 takes on a Dodge Charger. After a short burnout, the SuperCrew pickup eases to the starting line, stages and launches, quickly hustling down the track right alongside the competition. Unfortunately, we don’t see the times for this run and the video cuts away before we see a win light, but if nothing else, the stock half-ton truck stayed right with the high performance sedan.

At the end of the video, we see the best time slip for the 2018 Ford F-150 of the night, a 14.56 at 96.34 miles per hour. That run had the truck in the right lane while the video run was in the left lane, so it was likely a different run, but mid-14s for a stock SuperCrew truck on 22-inch wheels is impressive.
