5 Ford Trucks You Don’t Want to Miss at Collector Auction
Motorsport Auction Group’s annual event features a treasure trove of Ford trucks. Grab them before they end up on Sotheby’s!
When it comes to big truck auctions, we tend to focus on the big houses. Sure, they get a lot of Ford vehicles that are rare and just the stuff of dreams. But there are many smaller car and truck shows and auctions that might not be on your radar. But they certainly should be. Smaller shows offer a greater chance at scoring a deal deal. Plus, they too have a sweet lot of Ford trucks that span a varied lot of generations and models.
Motorsport Auction Group (MAG Auctions) has their annual Spring Collector Car Auction this weekend, April 30 and May 1. MAG offers a chance to score a true dream, and a legend. The Arizona-based event accepts bids in person, via phone, and online. Not that we mean to encourage. Frankly, the trucks will do that for us.
1. Mr. Telephone Man
This 1957 Ford F-100 was once a working man. Now retired from serving as a Mountain Bell Phone utility truck, the F-100 deserves a new adventure. Former working trucks are always full of character and often a lot potential.
But this ol’ fella is more than just looks. Still running and driving, the Windsor V8 has ben bolted up to a C6 transmission. It’s a clean set up and fitment looks solid. Other upgrades include a utility bed, 9″ Ford Posi rear end, plus new tires and wheels.
The patina exterior, faded logo, anachronistic beefy style, and overall attitude shows it has a distinctly rat rod vibe. Clean inside and out, we’re thinking the fat fender second-gen would definitely be a boon for rodders and Ford trucks alike.
At the time we published this bidding was at $375 dollars. Now we know auctions need to be done with finesse, timing is everything, don’t show your hand too soon, etc. But just under four hundred bucks in a no reserve auction? Yep, I’m definitely watching this one.
