Shelby-built F-150 packs 750 horsepower and a custom look, making for one remarkable muscle truck.

While flipping through the Ford vehicles that will be included in next month’s Mecum Kissimmee auction, we came across this badass 2017 Ford F-150. This pickup has been upfitted by Shelby American with their Super Snake package, introducing a unique look inside and out along with a 750-horsepower engine package. Only 150 examples of this high performance F-150 package were built, so they are very rare and with only 1,655 miles, this Super Snake pickup is practically new.

Super Snake Number 61

Tuscany Motor Company in Indiana built 150 examples of the Super Snake F-150 for Shelby American for the 2017 model year, but this truck had a special purpose. This half-ton Ford was ordered by a collector named Wayne Davis, who specifically ordered Super Snake number 61 as a companion vehicle for his 1966 Shelby GT350 which is also serial number 61. This F-150 was designed to match his Mustang, so it is painted bright white with blue stripes and fitted with some retro-style wheels.

It is the perfect match to a 1966 Shelby GT350 Mustang in white and blue, but for some reason, Davis has decided to sell the truck after only a year of ownership and 1,655 miles of high powered driving. However, his decision to part with the Shelby pickup will allow someone else to grab this supercharged muscle truck.

Super Snake Features

On the outside, the Super Snake package for the Ford F-150 makes the truck a whole lot sportier. The package adds a ram air style hood, a front fascia with functional vents, a unique grille pattern, a new front air dam, a four-piece side kit that includes new sills and flares and a hard tonneau cover. The package also adds a body color rear bumper, tinted windows and 22-inch Shelby Retro wheels.

Under the hood, the Shelby Super Snake pickup adds a blue powder coated supercharger that lifts the output of the 5.0-liter V8 to 750 horsepower with help of a unique cold air intake setup, a larger throttle body and a Borla exhaust system. This engine build makes the Super Snake one of the strongest and quickest of the post-title packages for the F-150, but Shelby also tunes the suspension for better handling and to handle all of that power.

Finally, the interior upgrades are minor, with a serialized dash plaque and package-specific Super Snake badges in the loaded F-150 cabin.

When new, the Shelby Super Snake F-150 had a price of right around $100,000 and with such low mileage, it barely been broken in, so someone is likely going to pay big money for this 750-horsepower truck, but it will be worth every cent to have such a badass pickup.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
