SEMA Veteran Hauk Ford Bronco Seeks New Owner
It isn’t often you can buy a former SEMA Bronco built by a TV famous company, but it will certainly cost you.
The annual SEMA show is not just the world’s largest automotive aftermarket showcase. It’s also an incredible challenge for those looking to grab the attention of a fickle audience. Each year, we see builders of amazing vehicles go to extremes to construct rides that will stand out among the hundreds of others vying for our eyeballs (and dollars). But after their brief appearances in Las Vegas, what becomes of wild rides like this first-gen Ford Bronco constructed by Hauk Designs?
Well, that depends. Some SEMA vehicles stay in the possession of their builders, oftentimes serving as developmental vehicles over the years. But we also see plenty of these show-worthy rides head to auction or second-hand dealers for resale. And that’s the case with this very interesting Hauk Bronco, which is currently up for grabs at Worldwide Vintage Autos in Denver, Colorado. You know, the same Hauk Designs featured on Discovery’s Road Hauks TV series.
Obviously, few would declare the $119,900 asking price as cheap. But well over $200k went into building this wild bucking Bronco, so you could say that it’s somewhat of a bargain at that price. It certainly took many man hours, loads of developmental time, and labor/parts dollars to put this masterpiece together.
There are obviously a lot of interesting things about this Bronco worth mentioning. Starting with what it doesn’t have – cut fenders. In a world where that’s often the first thing folks do to these ‘utes, we think it’s pretty cool that Hauk left them alone. But they did utilize an entire 2018 JK Jeep Wrangler frame underneath that vintage Ford body, so this thing is far from stock.
To that sturdy base, Hauk added a complete ICON coilover suspension and custom Stockton 17″ wheels wrapped in Nitto Trail Grappler MT 285/70/17 tires. Beefy bumpers were next on the list, both of which carry winches in case you get yourself stuck out in the wilderness. There’s also enough lighting here to turn night into day. From custom LED headlights to multiple light bars and pods, lumens aren’t an issue by any measure.
Aside from the modern chassis, Hauk also upgraded all the other mechanicals. There’s a 5.0-liter Coyote crate engine under the hood, 4R70W automatic transmission, four-wheel disc brakes, and power steering. The interior is fully custom as well, with a shaved dash and comfy diamond-stitched leather seats along with a booming Kicker stereo system.
So if you’re looking for a custom Bronco with clout, you can’t do much better than this. Built by a company that has its own TV show for the world’s largest automotive showcase has a pretty nice ring to it, wouldn’t you think? Even if you have to pay for that privilege, it’s obviously well worth pursuing.
