Ranger vs. Bronco: Truckin’ Fast Wednesday Presented by Nitto Tire
Watch a mild-looking Ford Bronco and a wild-looking Ford Ranger blast down the quarter mile.
This week’s Truckin’ Fast Wednesday video comes to us from the Boostin Productions YouTube channel and it features a Bronco and a Ranger in action on the quarter mile drag strip. Unfortunately, they are running “no time”, so we don’t get to see what kinds of elapsed times these wicked midsized Fords run. But there is no question that they are getting down the quarter mile track in a hurry. There are no details on either vehicle, but we don’t need to know what’s under the hood to appreciate a handful of crazy-quick passes.
The Bronco is a Sleeper
First up, a Ford Bronco II takes on a first generation Chevrolet Camaro and a New Edge generation Ford Mustang. This Bronco is an awesome sleeper, looking just like a stock SUV with a set of aftermarket wheels, but when the light turns green, it is clear that this isn’t an original engine from the 1980s.
In the race against the Camaro, the Bronco sleeps at the line and the Chevy muscle car races to victory, but the Ford makes up for it on the next run. Against the Mustang, the Bronco gets a great launch, grabbing a big early lead and never looking back.
The Ranger is a Race Truck
Next, we get to watch an early Ford Ranger tackle the quarter mile, and it is obvious that this is a race truck. There is a roll cage extending out of the back of the cab, and it has a parachute mounted to the tailgate. Prior to launching, we can hear the distinct sound of forced induction as the engine RPMs soar. When the green lights drop, the Ranger rips the front wheels off of the ground and storms down the track–presumably well into the 10-second range.
Finally, the last run for the Ranger is filmed from behind, allowing us to watch the tires spin and the back end dance around as the driver struggles to jeep the boosted midsized pickup pointed straight.
