Question of the Week: Should Ford Have Kept the 6.2L V8 for the 2015 F-150?
The 2015 Ford F-150 will hit showrooms later this year with four strong, efficient engines including the new base model naturally aspirated 3.5L V6, the new 2.7L EcoBoost V6, the 5.0L V8 and the 3.5L EcoBoost V6.
This engine lineup will give buyers the chance to pick an engine that offers their preference of fuel economy mixed with power and capabilities, but absent from the 2015 F-150 lineup is the 6.2L SVT V8 that powered the 2014 Raptor F-150 and some other high end trim lines.
The 6.2L V8 was the most powerful and the most capable, but it was also the least efficient in the previous F-150 lineup.
When you consider the relatively low take rate of the 6.2L V8 outside of the Raptor and the low fuel efficiency, it doesn’t leave many questions as to why Ford decided not to carry that engine forward into the next generation of the F-150.
Whether or not you plan on buying a 2015 Ford F-150, we want to know whether or not you think that Ford should have kept offering the 6.2L V8 – even though it was the least efficient?
