2016 F-150 Available with Factory-Installed LED Strobe Warning Lights
It takes vision to create and execute plans for a new road or highway. It takes visibility to keep the crews making those plans into realities safe while they work.
The engineers at Ford must have been thinking the same thing. Utility, road construction, and municipal crews can now order the 2016 F-150 with a factory-installed strobe warning LED light kit, making this year the first time such a feature has been available to F-150 fleet customers. Super Duty fleet customers were able to get the same setup on their rigs last year.
Ford mounts two weather-resistant LEDs with amber lenses on the rear edge of the hood for maximum visibility and one on either side of the center high-mounted stop lamp for up to 180 degrees of lighting. According to the Blue Oval, the strobes’ flash patterns are programmable for different fleet needs. The light from the LEDs can be spotted from as far away as 1,000 feet in daylight and from a mile away at night.
No drilling is required for the installation of the kit and it’s covered by a Ford limited warranty of three years or 36,000 miles. The lights can be serviced at any of the 3,000+ Ford dealers around the country.
