Old School Ford Truck Tackles the Moab’s ‘Hell’s Gate’

Depending on which era you were born, you may be accustomed to tackling the toughest off-road trails with nothing other than a stick shift, a clutch, some decent tires, and a cunning look of the road conditions ahead of you.

If you were born in a different era, you may only know automatic transmissions, traction control, hill descent control, and how to push various buttons to make the truck behave and act different¬†depending of the trail. Most would say that off-roading simply takes no skill in modern trucks, and as someone that falls somewhere between those two eras, I’d probably agree.

If you want a lesson on what it’s like to climb one of the trickiest rock features the Moab has to offer, just check out this video by,¬†Thomas truck, where you can see him climb the infamous ‘Hell’s Gate’ with what looks like an old-school Ford F-150. The ‘Hell’s Gate’ is made up of two converging walls of rock, united by a dip that works as run off for the rare-but-furious rains the Moab gets from time-to-time. Needless to say, not only is it steep, but extremely slippery.

Check out the video and see what happens next!
