2017 Ford Raptor is Ready for Baja 1000
The next generation Ford Raptor is going to be astoundingly 25% faster than the previous generation. That massive increase in speed comes from the new twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 and the lightweight aluminum body the Raptor is now running.
Just based on those facts alone had us giddy with anticipation for the new desert runner. Now, according to Ford, we have more to be excited about.
According to the Blue Oval, the new Raptor mule recently completed over 1,000 miles of testing in the American Southwest desert. And to prove this new Raptor’s capability, that total mileage was built from a 66-mile course that was designed to emulate the Baja 1000 off-road course.
Throughout the test, the Raptor mules were tortured by “fast sandy washes, deep-rutted silt beds, steep climbs in deep sand, and slow meticulous crawls through tight trenches.”
All this torture testing means, when the final Raptor debuts, it’s going to eat anything and everything off-road related for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We can’t wait.
