2015 Ford Taurus (Not the New One)

Pack your bags, everyone! We’re going to China! At least that’s what every automaker has been saying for the past couple of years. Ford has said they plan on introducing 15 vehicles to the Chinese marketplace this year, and they just announced that one of those nameplates will be the all-new Ford Taurus.

Big cars are a big deal in China, and Ford recognizes the need to sell cars there. Just take a look at the new Lincoln Continental, for example. It’s a vehicle that has China written all over it with its understated design and the huge amounts of rear-seat room and comfort.

CHECK OUT: Hello! Where’s the New Ford Taurus?

The Taurus name, popular in America, has never been used in China. But here’s what they had to say about the new car.

Ford is bringing the storied Taurus nameplate to China for the first time with a sophisticated, expressive large sedan designed especially to meet the needs of Chinese consumers.

Definitely expect the next Taurus to be bigger than the current version. What will be interesting to see is if it is going to be constructed on the same platform as the new Continental? Lincoln has said the 3.0L EcoBoost is exclusive to them, but they’ve said nothing about anything else.

April 18th is the day that Ford will pull the covers off the new Taurus at a special event for Auto Shanghai 2015.
