Truckin’ Fast Wednesday: EcoBoost vs V8 Drag Race

By -

Two excellent engines, two excellent trucks, but only one can win. Who will it be?

The 2015 and newer Ford F-150 is offered with two premium engines – a 5.0L V8 with 385 horsepower and 387 lb-ft of torque, and a 3.5L EcoBoost V6 with 375 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. The V8 has a noticeable advantage in horsepower, while the EcoBoost has an even bigger advantage in torque, leaving many to wonder which truck is quicker?

We can look at reported performance numbers to get an idea of which F-150 engine would be victorious in a head-to-head race, but this video puts all of that speculation to rest.

Despite one truck being a year newer, the construction of both machines is identical, benefiting from the aluminum-alloy body which is considerably lighter than in previous generations.

We won’t spoil the outcome for you, so check out the video by jednjones and let us know your thoughts!
