Mach-E GT ‘Performance Edition’ Adds Torque & Boosts 0-60 Times
The GT Performance Edition adds 34 ft-lbs of torque, Brembo Brakes, MagneRide, and Pirelli summer tires to the already-capable Mustang Mach-E GT trim.
Welp, the Mustang Mach-E GT won’t be out until late into 2021, but Ford’s already managed to make it faster. Where the standard Mustang Mach-E GT boasts 480 horsepower and 600 lb.-ft. of torque, the GT Performance Edition bumps the torque figure up to 634 lb.-ft. of torque. That’s good enough to drop the 0-60 times to 3.5 seconds (from 3.8 seconds), but will cost you 15 miles of range (235 vs 250 on the standard GT).
“We already pushed the envelope by creating an electric vehicle with the pony badge, so it’s only natural that we push it even further,” said Darren Palmer, global director, battery electric vehicles, Ford Motor Company. “Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition not only gives you the added performance you expect from the GT name, but accentuates the thrill with the responsiveness of an all-electric powertrain.”
In addition to the torque bump, the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition (that name is FAR too long) also boosts bigger Brembo brakes with red calipers, unique black & machine-faced 20″ wheels, MagneRide suspension components, and 245/45R20 Pirelli summer tires… which is a real shame, to be honest. I know lots of folks don’t like the Mach-E being called a Mustang. I’m actually fine with this. But Pirelli tires? Hell no. They aren’t in the same league as the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires Ford uses on the Mustang GT Performance Pack and base GT500.
Back to the Performance Edition. Ford also upgraded the Mach-E’s front seats with “metallic stitching and unique Miko perforated reflective inserts.” And there’s a special dash as well as a rear-vehicle Performance Edition GT badge, if you’re into those sorts of things. Color options for all Mustang Mach-E GTs remain the same: Cyber Orange Metallic Tri-Coat, Dark Matter Gray Metallic, Rapid Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, Star White Metallic Tri-Coat, Grabber Blue Metallic, Shadow Black, Iconic Silver Metallic, and Space White Metallic.
You can reserve a Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition here. And don’t worry if you already have one reserved and now want a Performance Edition — there’s still time to upgrade before placing your final order.
