Luxury Raptor Makes Pre-running a Smooth Adventure
Rebuilt in 2018, Raptor prerunner eschews EcoBoost power for an LS V8.
Pre-running stages can be a tough job, especially if your prerunner is built a lot like your trophy truck. There’s more to life than building your truck to handle the task while leaving comfort behind, which is why this 2017 F-150 Raptor prerunner, which we spotted for sale on Race Dezert, exists. Not only is it a powerful pickup, but it has tons of luxury to make pre-running adventures as comfortable as a Lincoln Town Car.
Fully rebuilt in 2018, the Raptor is practically all-new, from the body panels down to the stainless steel exhaust and full set of wheels and tires.
Hidden under the Raptor’s clamshell hood is not an EcoBoost or a Ford V8 of any sort. Instead, the builder dropped in a 402 cu in LS motor (yes, a Chevy motor), which makes 564 horses and 520 lb ft, and is connected to one of two Turbo 400 automatics built by Culhane Racing Transmissions.
Open the doors of the cab, and you’ll find a gorgeous blue and black interior with a pair of Sparco racing buckets, a pair of race radios, front and rear AC to keep you cool in the desert, lots of leather and suede, and even a couple of cup holders.
Chevy power aside, this is one badass (and luxurious) Raptor prerunner, one that will let you set aside the hardcore for the actual competition.
