Luxury F-250 Vs. Luxury Ram: Who Wins?

By -

Priced almost the same, however, there’s really no comparison.

Trucks aren’t just for the work site anymore. Nowadays, truck owners pick the kids up from school, run by the grocery store, and when the need arises, will haul or tow. With that being said, there are many truck owners that desire something a bit more luxurious.

That’s why Ford is set to release the 2018 F-250 Super Duty Limited. This $80,000 truck has all the power and capability of a Super Duty Diesel, but with the luxury that some would expect in a high-end SUV. Not to be outdone, Dodge has a luxury version of their Ram. The Ram HD 2500 Tungsten is their direct competition with the F-250 Limited, and the Ram carries a price tag of $77,000. So, which is better?

The good people over at The Fast Lane Truck have released a video where they directly compare the two vehicles, and even though the price tag is relatively close between the two, there’s some pretty distinct differences.

F-250

Before we get to the differences, let’s talk about similarities. Both trucks have all the bells and whistles you might expect in a luxury vehicle. Leather seats, suede roof lining, expensive wood accents, and other amenities are found in both trucks. However, in the F-250 Limited, you get the added bonus of massaging seats. Who doesn’t want massaging seats? Both trucks have high quality exterior options as well, but considering we’re Ford people, we naturally gravitate to the design sensibilities of the F-250. The Ram, while decent-looking, just seems a little cheaper in quality.

The differences between the two trucks lies under the hood. In the F-250 Super Duty Limited, you get a 6.7-liter V8 Diesel engine that has power to spare, with 440 horsepower and 925-pound feet of torque. Ford made sure that when you buy their top-of-the-line F-250, you’re getting all the power you could need. The Ram, on the other hand, comes with a 6.7-liter V6 Turbo Diesel, which puts out 370 horsepower and 800-pound feet of torque. Compared side-to-side, these numbers just don’t add up. That’s a mic-drop moment for Ford.

At the end of the video, TFL Truck says that the winner is whichever you feel more comfortable with. If you’re a Ford person, you’re going to choose the Ford, and vice versa. However, that’s really underplaying the stark differences between the two trucks. Objectively, there’s some major differences, and for the price-points of both vehicles, the clear choice is the F-250.
