London Calling: Shelby GT350 R Visits Europe

Shelby GT350 London

Even though the 2015 Mustang is a global car, there are currently no plans to take the hot Shelby GT350 and GT350 R variants across the pond. Emissions regulations and congestion charging doesn’t really make the Shelby a viable product. But that didn’t stop Ford from dropping one off in central London to see what people would think.

They couldn’t have picked a more anti-Mustang place in Europe to drop off this wholly American product. Odds are, this car wouldn’t even be allowed in the city under its own power due to engine size and emissions (it’s not a hybrid, after all).

Apparently, Ford was told that they could show off the car all they wanted for 24 hours, but they couldn’t start it up or rev the engine.

So, they started it up and revved the engine. They definitely scared a few people, but also attracted a heck of a lot of enthusiasts to come and takes pictures and hear the monster in person.

Normally I’m the one begging for the Europeans to send their hot cars over here, but now that we’re getting the Focus RS, my pleas are the opposite. I want our lovely European friends to have access to the awesome Shelby Mustang!
