Little Ford Truck Shines at Perkins Summer Sling: Muddy Monday
Calling this Ford ‘little’ might be laughable, but in the mud, it is all business.
This week’s Muddy Monday video comes to us from the CarWarz YouTube channel and it features what the title calls a “Little Ford” participating in the 2018 Perkins Summer Sling Mud Bog in Michigan. For the duration of the 84-second video, this sixth generation F-Series pickup storms from one side of the pit to the other, slinging mud everywhere as it conquers the slop.
The Little Truck
If you are new to the world of serious mudding, you might question how this Ford could be called little, but as purpose-built mud trucks go, this F-Series is relatively small. Compared to the vehicles in the background, the tires on this truck are fairly small and that leads to a shorter overall ride height. Also, the bed has been cut away, making the overall length shorter than a “normal” truck from this era. Of course, this Ford would still tower over any street truck, but in the mud bog world, this is a little pickup.
Aside from its size, this Ford from the 1970s is built for business, with a rear-mounted cooling system for what sounds like a monster V8 and a suspension system that makes plenty of room for the beefy tires.
It might be smaller than the other trucks, but that doesn’t stop this Ford from making short work of the mud bog.
Slinging Mud in Michigan
During the course of this video, we get to watch the sixth-gen truck storm across the Perkins Mud Bog without much effort. It flies across the shallower portions of the pit, practically skimming across the surface, and when it gets to the deep holes, this old school “little” Ford has no problem digging its way back to dry land.
