Fully customized F-150 with a 914-horsepower EcoBoost V6 can be yours… for just $1.1 million.

In most of Ken Block’s Gymkhana videos, he is driving a high performance compact car, but during his time working with Ford Motor Company, his team created the 1977 F-150 known as the Hoonitruck. This beast followed in the footsteps of the Hoonicorn, which was an all-wheel-drive 1965 Mustang powered by a 1,400-horsepower, twin turbocharged NASCAR V8, but rather than a stock car engine, this truck packs the power of a modern Ford endurance racer. The result was a slammed classic Ford truck with a 914-horsepower EcoBoost V6 and a high tech all-wheel-drive system that makes this the perfect pickup for Block’s shenanigans.

The Hoonitruck was a huge hit when it debuted in Gymkhana 10 and when it showed back up in Climbkhana 2, along with being a popular option in Forza Horizon 4. That open-world driving title gave gamers the chance to experience the Hoonitruck in the virtual world, but now you can buy the real thing – if you have deep enough pockets. Like so many other famous Ken Block vehicles, the Hoonitruck is up for sale and if you have $1.1 million laying around, it could be yours.

Hoonitruck F-150 Details

If you have somehow missed the Hoonitruck in the past, here is a quick rundown of this unique 1977 Ford F-150.

The heart of the beast is the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 from the Ford endurance racing program, which used a similar engine to win the 24 Hours of LeMans. When racing, there are rules that limit the output to somewhere between 500 and 600 horsepower, but Block didn’t have to worry about any of that. As a result, the build team was able to crank this EcoBoost V6 way up to 914 horsepower.

Sending all of that power to all four wheels is a high performance all-wheel-drive system and a Satev 6-speed sequential gearbox, which is the same drivetrain layout as is found in the Hoonicorn Mustang.

While the build team may have been able to modify the factory chassis to lower the stance, Block needed to get this F-150 as low to the ground as possible. That required a custom aluminum spaceframe chassis to be constructed, creating the wicked stance while also offering incredible handling attributes. In short, this is a custom race car with a classic Ford truck body, complete with body panels made from the same aluminum as the modern F-150.

Of course, the package is finished off with an eye-catching livery and an interior that is designed to combine safety and functionality as smoothly as possible. The result is one of the coolest and best performing F-150s in the world. It allegedly cost around $1.5 million to build, but it can be yours for the low price of just $1.1 million USD. For that price, you also get a bunch of spare parts, including extra body bits and a complete extra LeMans EcoBoost engine.

In many cases, when someone lists a classic truck for sale, the seller will make comments like “never driven hard” or “never driven in the winter”. Ken Block makes no such claim. In fact, this truck has likely been abused more severely than any other truck, in ways that would destroy most high performance cars. However, since it was built to let Block showcase his immense vehicle control talents, we imagine that there was little ill effect from this truck’s starring roles in two of his videos.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
