Illuminated F-150 Burnout Goes Wrong: Tire Smokin’ Tuesday:
Lights over the wheels create an interesting effect as this F-150 roasts the tires until something fails.
This week’s Tire Smokin Tuesday video comes to us from the YouTube channel of Eli Tharpe and it features a Ford F-150 doing a burnout during the “Scrapin’ the Coast” event in Mississippi. At first, this burnout caught our eye with the custom lighting in the wheel wells, but after an awesome burnout, something goes wrong under the truck.
Illuminated Smoke Show
In most cases, nighttime burnout videos aren’t as interested as daytime videos because it is hard to see what is going on in the dark. Fortunately, this Ford F-150 has custom lighting in the wheel wells that is designed to show off the huge wheels and suspension bits, but in this case, it lights up the smoke coming from the rear tires.
The only details that we have on this F-150 is that it is powered by a 5.0-liter V8, but we can see that it is lifted, with huge wheels and low profile tires. As the video begins, the driver of this Ford truck rolls into the throttle and gets the passenger’s side rear tire spinning. Smoke quickly begins to accumulate from the spinning tire and in most cases, this is where the dark would ruin the fun.
However, the LED lights in the wheel wells light up the tires and the cloud of smoke.
Things Go Wrong
For the first 25 seconds of this video, the high-riding F-150 puts on a great burnout show, but around the 29-second mark, something appears to go wrong. We can see the flash of sparks or fire under the truck and when the driver lets the half-ton Ford roll forward, we can see more flashes of fire from inside of the wheel.
Our guess is that the rear brakes heated up enough to create a component failure, and if that is the case, this Ford F-150 likely had some extensive damage to the rear braking system.
At least it did a great burnout on video in the process of tearing up the truck.
