Ford LTD ‘Family Truckster’ replica from National Lampoon’s Vacation won’t leave you stranded on your way to Wally World.

Nearly four decades ago, a family from Chicago set out on an adventure of a lifetime. The destination: Wally World. The ride: a Wagon Queen Family Truckster, the ugliest station wagon ever to grace America’s highways.

Of course, we’re talking about the 1981 cult classic National Lampoon’s Vacation starring Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo as Clark and Ellen Griswold. And thanks to Barrett-Jackson, one lucky bidder will have the pleasure of driving a replica of the infamous avocado green wagon, when the house stops at Palm Beach, Florida April 11 through 13.

Like the original designed by the late George Barris, this Family Truckster is based on a 1981 Ford LTD Country Squire, and comes with all the things that made the original an iconic star car, from the faux-wood panelling and faux side air intakes, to the stacked quad headlights on either side and ‘aerodynamic’ grill faring.

Under the hood of the replica is a Ford 5.0-liter V8 backed by an automatic, which makes enough power to guide you through East St. Louis and onward into Coolidge, Kansas to meet with your wife’s cousin and her husband, and, perhaps, keep up with a Ferrari 308 GTS driven by a blonde supermodel.

Inside, the Ford’s interior looks wonderful, with cushy tan cloth front and rear bench seats complimented by the extensive dark wood trim. Plus, there’s a Wagon Queen Family Truckster badge above the glovebox, in case everyone already forgot what this green wagon was.

Wherever this Ford goes in the future, it’ll definitely be the talk of the town, even if it isn’t a Wagon Queen Sport Wagon in Antarctic Blue.
