This is About as Good as an Old F-1 Gets
If I could only drive one truck for the rest of my life, it would probably be an F-1. Those classic lines are unbeatable, and to this day there are very few things that look quite as attractive. Aside from a blonde bombshell driving an F-1; that would probably look a lot better than just an F-1. With that in mind, I would like to present you with one of the most well-done resto-mod F-1s I have ever seen.
The chassis and motor are from a ’56 Chrysler and yes, it has a Hemi. After getting the chassis and motor sorted, it sat for forever, so eventually the trucks owner Don Schumacher just found a lovingly restored F-1 body to drop on top. The finished truck uses a Mustang II IFS up front from Southern Rods and out back is an 8.8-inch Tru-Trac from a Ford Explorer with 3.73 gears. To keep speed in check there are discs in all four corners. That Hemi started life as a 354, but it was built and bored to a 365. No word on power, but I am guessing the answer is “more than adequate.”
The interior has been fitted with a few extra modern touches like air conditions, but it is all hidden so the truck looks completely stock and factory inside. It’s basically the perfect truck. So, if anyone wanted to get me a present, this would be a great place to start.
