Ford F-100

Gorgeous Ford F-100 sparks an interesting debate, and in the process, some incredibly useful information!

The Ford Truck Enthusiasts forums are many things to many people. For some, it’s a place to make friends with like-minded folks. For others, the forums are a place to buy/sell trucks and parts, or even receive expert advice on their builds. But the forums can also be a great place to show off your truck, of course. And we’re betting the folks there will be every bit as excited as you are when you bring home a new truck. At least they were when Light Doug scored this super sweet 1964 Ford F-100 recently.

But of course, there’s much more to this story than just a handful of virtual pats on the back. A number of people point out the many interesting characteristics of this Ford F-100 that make it so unique. Starting with TA455HO.

“I like it a lot. How about some pics of the interior and maybe one of the warranty plate and I’ll add it to the list? I did notice the tailgate is a 1967-1972 style, but that’s fairly common since they are a bolt on swap. Hood ornament is 1965-66 V-8 type. But again, looks correct to 99.9% and it’s a direct swap. I like the wheel covers.”

NumberDummy has some more specific info to share on those cool hubcaps, too.

“Wheel covers are B6A-1130-A…hub cap 10 1/4″ diameter with stainless Ford letters on a white background. 1956 Ford passenger cars & Thunderbird. The trim rings are 1942/48 Ford/Merc passenger cars w/15″ wheels.”

And the mysterious tailgate, which turns into a hotly contested topic.

^C7TZ-9940700-A .. 1967/72 F100/350 Styleside tailgate. Has smaller FORD letters surrounded by a raised ovate scallop line than C4TZ-9940700-A = 1964/66 Ford F-100/250 2WD & 1966 Ford F-100 4WD Styleside tailgate.

In September 1966, Ford replaced this 1964/66 tailgate with the 1967/72 F-100/350 tailgate for use as a service part replacement. All the mounting parts are exactly the same.”
