Does Ford’s Super Duty Chassis Cab Have the Best Grille?

Trucks are a tool to complete a task. Even today’s trucks, with massaging seats and adaptive cruise control are still purchased by people who have an important job to do, and they need the right tool to do it. To that end, it really doesn’t matter much what the tool looks like, as long as it works. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but some of you have mentioned you weren’t fans of the grille on the new 2017 Super Duty. Perhaps, the chassis cab grille is more to your liking.

I’ll admit, the truck is growing on me appearance-wise. Seeing it in person at the State Fair of Texas helped that process along, as I believe the truck does look better in person than in the photographs. But there is a whole lot of chrome going on, especially on the King Ranch and Platinum versions.

During the media scrum following the reveal, I stumbled across a front end that I liked a lot better. That front end was attached to a Time Warner Cable-liveried chassis cab.

As I see more and more of the new truck, I’m sure the other versions will grow on me even more, but the work-truck base chassis cab, with the black grille and fenders, really gives this truck a look of “I’ve got shit to do, get out of my way.”
