“You can plan a pretty picnic but you can’t predict the weather.”

These lyrics from Outkast’s “Ms. Jackson” are an important lesson. No matter how much you prepare, the unpredictable can happen. In the case with the 2017 Ford Super Duty, Ford has figured out how to not only predict the weather, but manufacturer it themselves! To help ensure the best quality of vehicle, they have a mobile climate and road simulator that can take their extensive testing anywhere in the country.

When developing the new 2017 Ford Super Duty, Ford moved their mobile testing facility to the Kentucky Truck Plant so they could make sure that products coming off the line met the quality standards that Ford was aiming for.

Able to simulate a temperature range of -20° F to 120° F, the mobile lab can replicate weather nearly anywhere on the planet. Additionally, the unit is capable of simulating any road environment. Hydraulic lifts at each will raise the truck slightly off the floor, and then operate individually to simulate bumps.

All of this testing is achieve one goal; 0 rattles or creaks. Quality isn’t just making sure the big things don’t break through the lifetime of the truck, but also the little things like a quiet interior (which is where you spend everyday). With Ford’s mobile testing equipment, they’re ensuring that the new Super Duty is their best yet.
