2015 Ford F-150

Ford has always been at the forefront of innovating technology for their pickup trucks. For 2015, that meant going with an all-aluminum body to improve weight and fuel economy. For 2016, that means introducing a new piece of technology designed to make your life easier; Pro Trailer Backup Assist. We’re huge fans of it here, and now Ford is showing it off in their latest ad.

Dennis Leary lends his voice again for this ad, which in 30 seconds communicates really well how the technology works and where you’d probably see the most benefit. Ford has long-demonstrated the technology with a F-150 attached to a boat and trailer, and this commercial continues that trend. Rightfully so, because if you live near a body of water and head down to a boat ramp on any given summer weekend, you’ll see dozens of people who would benefit from this technology.

It’s also a piece of technology that’s inexpensive to spec, and available on every trim level. While some technologies, such as adaptive cruise control, are expensive to equip on a truck, Ford keeps the really-useful tech price low.

Check out the commercial and then let us know what you think. Also, feel free to tell us how you’ll never use this technology because if you can’t backup a trailer, you shouldn’t haul a trailer. You can communicate both over in our forums!
