Ford Vans are Big Business and a Big Deal to Businesses

By -

There’s no doubt the Ford F-Series is a perennial go-to for people and companies who need to get jobs done, but it’s not the only line of vehicles that does well for the Blue Oval and other businesses. Ford’s vans are quite popular, too.

They have been for a long time. According to Ford, it’s been making America’s best-selling commercial vans for the past 36 years.

In 2009, Ford launched the Transit Connect; it’s been the best-selling vehicle in the small commercial van market, which includes vehicles such as the Ram ProMaster City, for the past five years and has a 69-percent market share. Between January and June, commercial sales of it were up 43 percent.

Ford’s commercial van sales as a whole increased by 28 percent in the first half of this year. In fact, as of June, the Blue Oval has a 56-percent share of the commercial van market in this country thanks in part to the popularity of the Transit.

That, as well as the Transit Connect and Transit Connect Wagon, was updated for the 2016 model year. The larger van can now be ordered with dual sliding doors, enabling buyers to choose from 58 vehicle configurations. The proximity of 12 upfitters to the Kansas City Assembly Plant where Transits are made means they can be customized even more.

Perhaps those are just a couple of the reasons why Ford’s vans are the top sellers in the 47 states whose residents make up 99.09 percent of the U.S. population.
