Should Ford Have Used the Lincoln EcoBoost V6 for the 2015 F-150?

The 2015 Lincoln Navigator is powered exclusively by a unique version of the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 that delivers 380 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful application of an EcoBoost engine we have seen.

This new Lincoln debuted a few months ahead of the 2015 F-150 and when Ford held back on the specs of the 2015 F-150’s 3.5L EcoBoost V6, it was widely expected that the pickup would pack the same power as the Lincoln.

However, when the numbers were announced for the 2015 F-150, we all learned that the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 in the new trucks deliver the same 365 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque as the previous generation F-150.

The 2015 F-150 with the 3.6L EcoBoost still offers the best towing capacity in the lineup and in the segment, but more power is always a good thing – so I have to wonder why Ford didn’t use the same EcoBoost engine in the new F-150 that they used in the new Navigator.

With that in mind, we come to our Question of the Week.

Do you think that Ford should have used the exact same 3.5L EcoBoost V6 in the 2015 F-150 that they used in the 2015 Lincoln Navigator?
