Ford Trucks to Roll into Oregon's First 'No BS OBS Truck Show N' Swap'

Big Ford trucks and SUVs from 1980 through 1997 will be on display at debut of annual event, and the show is free for everyone.

On June 22, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Crabtree Automotive in Albany, Oregon, will host the first annual, all-Ford “No BS OBS Truck Show N’ Swap.” This event will feature stock and modified F-Series pickups and Broncos from the seventh, eighth and ninth generation, covering the 1980s and most of the 1990s. In addition to the truck show, there will be a swap meet and best of all, the entire event is free.

Whether you are showing a Ford truck or bringing parts to sell, admission and registration is free, so the only money that you will need to bring will be for the food trucks or to buy raffle tickets to win parts from the event sponsors.

Event Details

The all-Ford No BS OBS Truck Show N’Swap at Crabtree Automotive is sponsored by OBS Solutions, Sky’s Offroad Design and Complete Performance. These are the companies spending the money to make the event happen while being free of charge to everyone involved, and each of these companies has also donated parts and other items for the raffle. There are no details as to exactly what will be given away by means of the raffle, but attendees will be able to buy a shot at the prizes for $10.

As for the show itself, it is open to Ford F-Series trucks and Broncos from 1980 through 1997, covering the seventh, eighth and ninth generation of the full-sized truck along with the third, fourth and fifth generation of the big SUV. Frankly, while the 1978 and 1979 Bronco doesn’t seem to be included, owners of those rigs who are interested in participating should contact the organizers, as those models seem like they would fit perfect into this show. In any case, the big trucks and SUVs from the 1980s and 1990s are welcome in stock and modified form.

There is some paved parking, but that is available on a first come, first serve basis, so if you have a low-riding Ford truck that you don’t want parked in the dirt, you’ll want to show up early.

Swap Meet

In addition to the truck show, this event will host a swap meet, but it is not your typical swap meet with a huge area of tarps covered with piles of rusty parts. Items for sale must fit into the vehicle you are driving into the event, so you can’t roll in with a trailer full of parts for sale, but we imagine that some F-350 owners will be able to pack a ton of items into their beds.

With this being the first annual holding of this event, there are no pictures from the past, but these pictures here were posted on the event’s official Facebook page, offering a glimpse at the type of trucks that will be on display at the show later this month.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
