Ford Rolls Final 4.6-Liter V8 Off Assembly Line
It’s hard to understate the impact this engine has had on Ford’s lineup over the past twenty years. There’s the Crown Victoria, the Mercury Cougar, the F-series, the E-Series, two generations of Mustang… The list goes on. That popularity also means it found it’s way into some other interesting hardware.
In a way, the F-150 and the Koenigsegg are distant cousins.
The writing was on the wall for the aging power plant anyway. While reliable, their power pales in comparison to modern turbocharged engines. Even the naturally aspirated 3.7-liter V6 makes three hundred horsepower. Let’s not even start on the EcoBoost. There’s a reason that truck is so popular.
