Raptor Masters Form & Function On Punishing Winter Track

Ford trucks show off some slick maneuvers on icy winding track.

Ford Performance Chief Functional Engineer Ed Krenz is our kind of truck guy. When he wants to demonstrate just how masterfully the Raptor can handle rugged and even perilous terrain, he goes all in. At Quebec, Canada’s Mecaglisse winter-racing track, Ford vehicles are pushed to extremes in speed, handling and performance on this mountainous, dicey proving ground.

The video shows amazing footage of various Ford vehicles conquering this tough track with apparent ease. “The mission of what we do at Ford Performance is to win at the race track, and apply those learnings to our Ford Performance products,” says Krenz.

‘The F-series is the smartest, toughest, most capable truck. The Raptor takes that to the next level.’

The Ford trucks expert also talks about how the vehicles, including a Raptor and Focus RS, are designed by Ford to excel. he also sheds some fascinating insight on the different engineering choices they utilize, such as the 350 hp 2.3 L EcoBoost engine. As Krenz talks, we see the vehicles take hairpin turns, drift, and dominate the track. “We are truly proud of the F-series. It is the smartest. It is the toughest. It is the most capable truck. With the Raptor, we take that to the next level.”

And this assertion is something that is very apparent in the video, as we watch the Raptor handle the conditions smoothly, an utter beast on the track. The Raptor clearly holds a special place for Krenz. “My favorite aspect of the Raptor is its aggressive styling,” he says. “Highlighted by 35-inch purpose-built knobby tires, it turns heads on-road, while blowing past them off-road.”
