Ford Ranger Receives Beach-ready Custom Build Down Under
Aussie custom builders trick-out reality TV star’s Ranger to become the ultimate ‘WaveRider.’
Australian lifeguard and reality TV star Anthony Carroll is a recent truck-loving convert. Of course, considering he drives a modded-out Ford Ranger, it’s hard not to become a Ford fan(atic).
“I’m a surfer, but I feel like I’m a car enthusiast now,” said Carroll upon seeing his upgraded Ford Ranger.
Carroll’s truck recently received the customization of a lifetime from AutoCraze Australia. As seen in AutoCraze’s cool new clip, the special build made the truck so sweet and tricked out that it has been re-christened the “WaveRider.”
Carroll, who holds four Australian Open Longboard titles, stars on the Australian reality TV show Bondi Rescue, which documents real-life rescues from lifeguards in Sydney. He has reportedly made over 5,000 rescues over the course of 20 years as a lifeguard. And now, he’s an AutoCraze brand ambassador.
“Not only is he a Bondi Beach lifesaver,” says the AutoCraze video host, “he also spreads the message of health and wellness [and] teamwork at many businesses and places around Australia… So, we decided to really go to town on his Ranger and make sure that wherever he goes, he’s seen from a mile away.”
Starting at the bottom of the Ford Ranger, the wheels are Fuel Sledge 20×9-inch Gloss Matte double black, with a gloss black lip and a matte finish center. The wheels are wrapped in the latest Falken Wildpeak MT01 Mud Terrain tires and sit under AutoCraze’s own Ranger Armour Flares.
AutoCraze upgraded Carroll’s previous auto lift with their own 2″ lift kit. The Aussie made kit has proven itself as the clear choice in performance both on and off-road, says AutoCraze. Electronic side steps were added to help Carroll and his family get into the lifted truck.
The front of the Ford Ranger received a 9,500-pound waterproof Thunder winch with synthetic rope. A 24 LED Great Whites attack series light bar was also added.
Adding some attitude to the appearance is AutoCraze’s signature Rival bars. “No one in Australia puts more Rival bars on more Rangers, more Hilux, and Amaroks than AutoCraze,” says the video host over shots and shots of great looking rugged trucks. “No one. Period. We are the biggest supplier and fitter of these beautiful, one-piece alloy, Russian-made bars which are far superior to anything on the market.”
The Ranger has a blacked-out stealth look thanks to the was powder coated underbody armor. Similarly, the side mirrors, badges, door handles, sports bar, and rear bumper also received a blacked out powder coating. Very sleek.
To make this truck fit in at the beach, the truck bed was outfitted with a 60-liter Thunder fridge-freezer combo on a sliding rack. Perfect for a frosty Fosters on the beach. There is also a removable, 12-volt Thunder AC/DC battery box. Over the top of all of it is a Roll R Cover, with a remote electronically controlling the cover. Also from Roll R is the Rhino Rack to hold Carroll’s surfboard.
Inside the vehicle is an I-Road X9 16GB front and rear dash cam. Custom neoprene seat covers complete the interior. Made by Wet Seat Australia, the seat covers feature the logos of AutoCraze and Waverider in custom stitching. And they are perfect for keeping Carroll comfortable and protecting his truck’s interior after being in the water and on the beach.
Upon seeing the finished vehicle, Carroll (seen above on his kickass truck bed) can’t hide his excitement. “Oh my God!” he says. “This is my dream.” We hear ya’, buddy.
