Ford’s Police Interceptors Will Literally Smoke Your Ride!

By -

The sight of red and blue flashing lights in your rearview mirror has always meant that your day is about to get a whole lot worse. Your heart pounds, your mind races – and making a run for it quickly crosses your mind.

That idea has always been an exceptionally poor one, but never more so than now. That’s because once again, Ford has proven that their Police Interceptors are the fastest police cars available. And that can be either really good or really bad for you! In independent tests carried out by the Michigan State Police and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Ford’s EcoBoost V6 handily out-performed all of its V8-powered competition to claim top honors.

In emergency situations, every second counts. According to the tests, the Police Interceptor sedan (based on the civilian Taurus) can sprint to 60 MPH in 5.7 seconds while the competition took over six seconds to reach the same speed. The Police Interceptor utility (based on the civilian Explorer) reaches 60 in 6.4 seconds, compared to over seven seconds for its competition. If they can smoke their police competitors, they can surely smoke you.

Ford vehicles are also doing a great job at keeping our officers safe, as they’re the only manufacturer to boast a 75 MPH rear crash test rating, as well as full-time all-wheel drive drivetrains. So the next time you get pulled over, take a deep breath, and remember that you were caught by the best.
