A Ford GT Crate Engine Would Be Perfect for the Raptor (and Everything Else)

We already know that the high-performance, 3.5L EcoBoost engine that’ll appear in the 2017 Ford Raptor shares a lot of similarities to the more powerful, 600+ horsepower version that appears in the new Ford GT. But there are differences. What if you could get the Ford GT’s bonkers EcoBoost in crate form? Not only would it be awesome swapping into a Raptor, but just about any other project you need a motor for!

Dave Pericak, Ford’s performance guru, recently spoke to Autocar about the durability and reliability of the Ford GT’s engine. As it turns out, it’s quite reliable in these endurance races. He sees a potential future where they’d sell the engine to other race teams. It’d be similar to what Chevrolet does with their LS program.

Pericak also said something that we have thought all along. He said that the EcoBoost in the Ford GT has much more power available than they’re currently exploiting. That’s good news for the tuners out there who like to make things go even faster.

What do you think? What would YOU put a Ford GT engine in? Let us know in the comments below or over in our forums!
