The US Specialty Vehicles Rhino GX is a Ford F-450 on Steroids

Ever since the Hummer H2 was buried into its bankruptcy grave there hasn’t been a Terminator-looking off-road vehicle available on the market. To make matters worse, when Ford discontinued the Excursion, the extra-large diesel, 4×4 SUV market completely died. Until now…

Say hello to the Rhino GX. This military-looking vehicle is manufactured by a company called US Specialty Vehicles out of California, and it’s based on a Ford F-450 commercial truck chassis. Allow that to sink in for a minute, a truck chassis is basically a small truck cab sitting on a bare chassis, which means it takes thousands of man-hours and hundreds of thousands of dollars to get it to look and drive like this. In fact, the price of the unit featured on this video is over $220,000 bucks.

Sadly, these rugged looks are merely for show, because these production trucks aren’t armored, and although they’re manufactured with 20-gauge steel, they’re not quite as military and tough as their looks suggest. Also, the Rhino Gx is powered by a 6.7 liter Ford diesel engine which cranks out a massive 760 lb-ft of torque, but only about 330 horsepower. Say what you want, but that’s a whole lot of vehicle to move, so don’t expect much when you step on the throttle on or off-road.

While the non-purposeful cool-looking exterior is still pretty sweet, it’s the interior that sets the Rhino GX apart. The interior cabin can seat up to seven people in first-class accommodations, and offer everything from the finest and softest leathers, to wood trims, carbon fiber, or even a completely rugged and rhino-lined interior. Whatever you need your Rhino GX for, US Specialty Vehicles will build it for you. For a ton of cash, of course.

Anyhow, watch Matt Farah from TheSmokingTire take this monster for a spin and judge for yourself!
