Ford Dominates Sales in the UK

Ford Transit brand sales were second to Ford Fiesta in UK total vehicle sales in April

Over here in the Colonies, Ford dominates overall vehicle sales with the Ford F-Series line of pickup trucks. But that’s just a single model line. Across the pond in the UK, Ford sells more vehicles than any other automaker. Just this past April, Ford sold 11% more vehicles than its closest competitor.

The best-selling vehicle in the UK is the Fiesta. Great fuel economy and good handling make this small city car pretty likable. The Focus was the second most popular brand for Ford last month as well. They get the cream of the crop with Focuses, too. They have the regular hatchback and wagon, along with the ST hatchback, wagon, and diesel (just don’t call it the STD).

But strong commercial vehicle (CV) sales are helping a lot, too. Registrations of Ford CVs were up 39.4%, which is also more than double their closest rival.

The UK clearly loves Ford, and they love their vans. The Transit is in the top 3 most popular lines that Ford sells in the UK. It’s no surprise, because when I sampled the Transit Connect I thought it was pretty good, and I’m looking forward to getting behind the wheel of the full-size Transit in the future.

Ford doesn’t call out specific sales numbers for the Ranger, but say that it’s in the top 3 in its segment.
