Ford Bronco Restomod Packed with Ingenious Details
Most high-dollar Bronco restomods are built to be pretty. But this one was built to look good and be usable.
If you’re into the classic Bronco scene, you’ve undoubtedly heard of Velocity Restorations. We’ve featured a number of their builds before, and for good reason. They put together some of the finest Bronco restorations and restomods on the planet. One of our favorites is the ‘ute you’re looking at right now – this Brittany Blue beauty. So we were ecstatic to see that Pensacola News Journal recently had the chance to take an in depth look at this very Bronco and its many cool details recently.
Like most of VR’s restomods, this one has very modern mechanicals. That includes a Coyote crate motor and Wilwood brakes. But many of the components were designed in house, because as VR’s owner Brandon Segers notes “everything that was on the market didn’t meet our standards. So we went out and with a local company and designed our own accessory brackets, radiator, extra cooling. You name it.”
One of the coolest touches on the reborn Bronco, however, is the interior. The seats themselves are a little deceiving, in fact. “Basically, it looks like leather,” Segers says. “This is actually a vinyl interior. So if we went out there and drove today and got in the rain, water would just run right off of it. You can get water on the floorboards. It’ll wash straight out.”
That’s right – this killer Bronco might look like a showpiece, but it’s also built to be used. “This truck is designed to go to the beach,” Segers says. “It’s got bars that go on the top. We can add surfboards, paddle boards, anything you want.” Everything about this Bronco is designed to make it just as nice and easy to drive as it is beautiful. And isn’t that the point after all?
