Ford Announces Driver Line Up for 24 Hours of Le Mans
The 84th edition of the world’s ballsiest race, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, is just a few months away, and the highly anticipated return of the Ford GT is something every race fan is anxiously waiting for.
As expected, most racing teams will start to roll out their driver rosters around the spring, but the Ganassi Racing and Ford Performance Ford GT team set out to make a statement this morning by announcing their talented line up for the famous race.
Onboard the Number 69 Ford GT machine, will be none other than the New Zealander, reigning Indycar champion and multiple Indy 500 winner, Scott Dixon. Dixon will be joined by fellow countryman, and previous Indycar team mate, Ryan Briscoe, who’s already an experienced GT driver along Richard Westbrook, who completes the Number 69 line up.
Dixon claims to have been onboard the Ford GT race car a few times already, and is confident of the package Ganassi and Ford Performance have put together. Dixon also added, “Like any driver, it is a dream come true for me to race at Le Mans, and I can’t wait to get started.”
Fellow Indycar driver and Le Mans veteran, Sebastian Bourdais, will join Joey Hand and Dirk Muller in the Number 68 Ford GT machine.
With a solid mix of new and experienced hands behind the wheel, it certainly looks like Ford is building the best package available for a winning-bid at the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Can they reenact the Ford GT victory from 50 years ago, what do you think?
