First Production Mustang Shelby GT350 Being Auctioned
Are you looking to get your grubby paws on the latest Shelby Mustang to come from the Ford Motor Company? Well, get your butt to Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale, Arizona on January 17th, 2015. Also, bring a boat load of cash!
Ford is once again bringing a first production car to an auction house to raise money for charity. This time, Barrett-Jackson will be auctioning off the first Shelby GT350 to benefit JDRF for type 1 diabetes research.
Did we mention you’ll need to bring some cash? Like previous auctions of the first production 2015 Mustang, the first Corvette Z06, and the first Challenger Hellcat, expect the Mustang Shelby GT350 to go for a little bit more than the sticker price. And by a little bit more, we mean a LOT more.
But why do you want one of these new Mustangs? The 2016 Shelby GT350 has a 5.2L flat-plane crank V8 turning out over 500 hp to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.
A bunch of track-focused goodies are added, including massive Brembo-branded brakes and Ford’s first-ever implementation of MagneRide magnetorheological ride control dampers. Those same type of dampers are used by Ferrari and General Motors. This car should be an absolute beast on the track.
Unfortunately, the first production Shelby GT350 will probably never see a racetrack, because whoever buys it will acquire it for it’s collectors value. But us normals will have a chance to buy our own sometime next year.
