Drop Shop’s New F-250 Platinum: A Powder-Coated Monster

By -

Go behind the scenes and witness how one of the top truck builders in the nation assembles a massive F-250 Platinum.

Outfitting pickup trucks in 2017 isn’t the same as it was 20, or even 10 years ago. Trends have changed, the aftermarket industry has expanded, and of course — pickup trucks have evolved. What folks used pickup trucks for back then isn’t what some folks use pickup trucks for now. As a result, what was cool then isn’t necessarily cool now.

This video comes courtesy of the guys at Salinas Photography, which has evolved as the premier source of the hottest trucks from the South. And of course, this video doesn’t disappoint thanks to an impromptu visit to the Drop Shop’s facility in Mission, Texas.

The footage kicks off with a behind-the-scenes look at the paint and powder coating booth inside the shop. Springs, brackets, shocks, and other undercarriage parts can be seen hanging from racks while being spray painted for this F-250 Platinum commissioned by Alfredo Terrazas.

After the parts are painted and powder coated, some of the highlights of the install process are shown before the truck takes onto the streets. Once off the lift, the massive F-250 towers over any other vehicle near it, even in Texas.

We’re fully aware that this truck trend isn’t for everyone, but it’s worth mentioning that the amount of care, effort, and attention to detail that goes into these monsters is mind-blowing. And not to mention the bags of cash it takes to put together a bad boy of this caliber. Just remember that a fully stock 2017 Super Duty Platinum can set you back upwards of $78,000. Ultimately, you are the judge.
