F-150 Couple Captures a Train Wreck on Video
A Union Pacific train struck a stalled transport truck on Sunday afternoon in Mer Rouge, Louisiana. The horrific derailment was captured by David and Juanita Schulze while they were sitting in their Ford F-150.
Fortunately, the driver of of the stalled rig was not injured and managed to get away at the very last minute. The same could not be said for two train engineers.
According to The News Star the injured engineers remain hospitalized in serious but stable condition. “One reportedly has a compound fracture, and the other may have a fractured spine,’ the Star reported.
The Schulzes were traveling to Memphis when they came upon the scary scene and watched it unfold before their eyes from their truck’s cab.
“We were sitting at a train track today on our way from West Monroe, LA to Memphis when we noticed a tractor trailer with a crane stuck on the train tracks. Then the train crossing lights came on and I grabbed the camera as the train smashed into the crane,” Mrs. Schulze said via YouTube.
“We are getting a lot of comments about how we should have called 911 instead of filming. There was no need as we were sitting right in front of the police station. Believe me, they heard the crash and came running out,” she continues.
“By the time we were able to go around the train and get to the other side, the police were over there and the driver of the truck was there as well. He is fine but we understand that the train engineers were in pretty bad shape.”
The train was hauling non-toxic argon gas which was later removed according to the news reports. You can watch the Schulze’s video below.
