Every Truck Needs LED Side-Mirror Spotlights
The new 2015 Ford F-150 can be equipped with a lot of LED lighting. On the top tier models, every exterior light, including the headlights, are powered by LED.
But on the more pedestrian XLT model, you can still option up some useful lighting that every truck manufacturer should offer.
New for 2015, Ford offers something called LED Side-Mirror Spotlights. The turn signals are already LED in the side mirrors, but this adds the ability to make those lights bright white. This is useful on a variety of occasions.
The lights are useful for lighting up the areas around the truck. This could be helpful while camping or when driving off-road at night. If you open up the front doors, you can even use them as spot lighting to light up the area in front of the truck.
Here’s an example, in pictures.
This is a forward looking image with no lights on. Obviously, it’ll be pitch black. And it is.
This is with the low-beam headlights on. This XLT trim doesn’t have LED headlights available.
This is looking forward without the headlights on, but with the LEDs on both mirrors turned on and both the driver and passenger door open.
As you can see, they would be extremely useful for lighting up an area at night around the truck. For $175, they are a great option to add to your truck, and after seeing them in use I wouldn’t order a 2015 F-150 without them.
It should be noted, the headlights or parking lights have to be on to use the LED side mirrors, and they do not function at speeds above approximately 10 miles-per-hour.
