Ecoboost F-150 with MagnaFlow Exhaust Sounds Like a European Sports Car
Old school traditionalists may scoff at the notion of anything other than a V8 residing in the engine bay of a full size truck, but there’s no denying that Ford’s Ecoboost V6 has been a runaway sales success in the F-150. In spite of gloomy predictions for the little-turbo-engine-that-could from Internet pundits, Ford is too busy counting sales dollars to care.
Buyers are no doubt intrigued by the similar power output between the 3.5 and the 5.0 – 365 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque for the V6 vs. 385 hp and 387 lb-ft of torque for the V8. Not to mention the V6’s superior towing capacity and fuel economy.
But the real question is, what does it sound like with a proper aftermarket exhaust? No doubt, many folks are probably concerned that their EcoBoost equipped truck might instantly transform into a ricer with an exhaust swap. Might as well strap on a three foot tall spoiler while you’re at it.
MagnaFlow is looking to alleviate those concerns with this short clip of a 2016 Ecoboost F-150 equipped with its stainless steel cat-back setup. The resulting noise is definitely not ricer-like, but more like a high end European sports car.
Whether or not that can be considered a good thing is very subjective, of course. That kid down the road might be a bit shocked when he thinks he hears a BMW M3 coming his way, only to see a full size American masterpiece roll by.
