Drive a Ford Explorer? You’re Likely a Donald Trump Supporter
Is the vehicle you drive an indicator of what type of person you are? While it might be an indicator of how much money you make, or what you do for a living, could it be possible for the vehicle you choose to drive indicate how you swing politically? A recent survey aimed to find out.
Automotive site BestRide commissioned the survey by asking people what vehicles they drove, and who they planned on voting for for president. You can view the entire results on BestRide‘s site, but there are a couple of key points we wanted to share.
The Ford Explorer is one of the most popular SUVs in the United States, and according to the results, the Ford Explorer is one of the top three vehicles driven by Trump supporters. Coincidentally, modern Explorers are built in Chicago, Illinois, which is where our current president is from.
If you are a fan of Jeb!, you’re also likely to be driving a Ford Taurus.
We talked to BestRide’s Craig Fitzgerald about the survey and the results;
“A few weeks ago, we tried this poll out on the Jay Talking show on WBZ-AM1030 in Boston and thought we had something interesting. I had about a 60 percent success rate predicting who people would vote for based solely on what kind of car they drove.
To really get an idea, though, we wanted to poll a lot of people. That’s where Car Talk got involved. Within a week, we had 10,000 respondents.
Combing through all that data would’ve been ridiculous. I barely passed freshman Algebra. Car Talk came through again with a mathematician at Harvard who was able to interpret the data.”
What do you think of the results? What Ford do you drive and who do you support for the next president? Let us know your thoughts over in our forums!
