F-150 Obsessed But Short On Cash? Build Your Own! (Video)

Forget about yard work. Building an RC Ford truck is your next project.

If you’re lucky, you get to relax and unwind on the weekends. Maybe even have a little fun or get some work done on your Ford truck project. But if you find yourself bored and itching to take on a new and interesting project, how about building a DIY F-150 RC car from scratch? And the best part is, when you finish the project you’ve got a cool toy to play with.

Building a radio-controlled truck has a number of advantages over buying one off a store shelf. Perhaps the biggest is that you can make the body into anything you want: classic, modern, fancy, or simple. Want to mimic your current classic Ford, or perhaps build a replica of the truck of your dreams? All you need is cardboard and some markers. Or take things a step further and custom-mold a body out of more exotic materials.

In the video, we get to see the process from start to finish. With only a few parts and some basic tools, popular YouTuber Mini Gear creates a simple but functional F-150 RC car. Best of all, you don’t have to go out and buy a bunch of expensive stuff to do it. Most of the tools and materials used are very likely to be laying around your house right now.

Obviously, you’ll probably have to buy a motor and the rest of the electrical stuff. But this is a project that can be as simple and cheap or as complicated and expensive as you want it to be. And we can’t think of a better way to kill an hour or two next weekend.
